3 accused in Nusrat murder case remanded

A Feni court today placed three accused of madrasa student Nusrat murder case on a fresh remand for further investigation.

The three -- Shahadat Hossain Shamim, Jabed Hossain alias Shakhawat Hossain Jabed and Saifur Rahman Md Jobaer each were placed on a one-day remand, reports a correspondent from Feni.

Feni’s Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Zakir Hussain passed the order after police produced them before the court seeking two days remand.

The three earlier gave their confessional statement in connection with the case. According to the statement, they were directly involved in killing Nusrat.

A total of 21 persons so far were arrested and 18 of them were remanded on different terms, police said.

On April 6, Nusrat was set afire at an examination centre of Alim examination allegedly by five people loyal to Principal Siraj Ud Doula of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa after he was arrested and subsequently suspended as the victim had accused him of sexually harassing her.

After fighting for her life for five days, Nusrat succumbed to her injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the capital on April 10.
