‘Outlaw’ killed in Jessore
An alleged outlawed party man was stabbed and shot to death by miscreants in Jessore Sadar upazila today.
The deceased, Mofazzal Hossain, 55, was allegedly a local leader of a faction of the outlawed Biplabi Communist Party.
He came under attack around 1:30pm when he was sitting at a tea stall with two others at Sarshunadaha village, Mozaffar Ali, a witness, told our Jessore correspondent.
The assailants riding three motorcycles shot him from a close range, leaving him dead on the spot, the witness added.
They also fired some blank shots to create panic among the people at the spot. Police later sent the body to Jessore Medical College for autopsy after the recovery.
The miscreants shot him at first on his chest, and then they stabbed him on his head with sharp weapons to ensure his death, said Mizanur Rahman Mridha, a sub-inspector at Jessore Kotwali police station.
Mofazzal was an outlaw, who was accused in at least six cases on various charges, including three for murder and two for possessing explosives, said Shikdar Akkas Ali, officer-in-charge of the police station.
