Plot to attack oil depots: Another suspect held
A suspect in the case filed for planning an attack on the depots of three state-run oil companies in Chittagong was arrested along with five of his associates from different parts in Patenga of the port city last night.
The six, all leaders and activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, were arrested in connection with an arson attack took place at Patenga on March 16, reports our Chittagong correspondent reports quoting police.
Of them, Fazlur Rahman Rubel, 27, Shibir president of Patenga unit, has admitted his involvement in plotting to attack depots of three state-run oil companies, said Mohiuddin Selim, officer-in-charge of the police station.
The other arrestees are AGM Ali Arif, 19, Md Zamir Uddin, 20, Abdul Karim, 20, Md Mahbubur Rahman, 21, Md Khaled Harun Rana, 21, and Abdul Karim 23.
On tip-off, Chittagong Port police detained them from different spots of Patenga around 10:00pm yesterday, the OC said.
They will be produced in the court today, he added.
On February 21, police unearth the plot to attack the oil depots and arrested three leaders of Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, from Chittagong for their alleged link with the conspiracy.
