PM expresses condolences at SL loss of lives
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed her heartfelt condolence and profound sympathy on the tragic loss of lives in devastating floods and landslides in Sri Lanka which was caused by Cyclonic storm Roanu.
The storm brought about heavy rains last week in Sri Lanka, triggering two landslides that were feared to have killed around 150 people and forced more than 223,000 persons from their homes, according to Reuters.
“We are particularly distressed by the anxiety for people still missing in the Aranayaka landslide,” the Bangladesh PM said in a condolence message sent to Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the members of the bereaved families and those displaced by the floods,” reads the message.
She reaffirmed her solidarity and support for Sri Lanka government as well as for the people of the country.
