Police informant stabbed dead in Tongi
An informant of police was stabbed to death in Tongi upazila of Gazipur this morning.
Hailing from Dhaka, victim Kutub Uddin, 32, had been living at a rented house in Tongi, reports our Gazipur correspondent.
Miscreants called Kutub out of his Amtoli house around 5:00am and stabbed him indiscriminately. Later, locals rescued him in critical condition in T&T Bazar area, victim’s uncle Abdul Gafur told the correspondent.
Kutub was taken to a local hospital. Later, he was shifted to Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor) where doctors declared him dead.
Identifying him as police informant, Firoz Talukder, officer-in-charge of Tongi Police Station, said his team is trying to arrest the culprits.
Quoting family members, the OC said two former police sources -- Anwar Hossain and Jamal Uddin – might have been involved in the killing.
