Primary education officials asked to monitor their school areas

PEC examinee

Field-level officials of Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) have been asked to monitor the areas of government primary schools so that no-primary level educational institutions would be established there.

The DPE also asked all district primary education officers and upazila primary education officers to increase their visits in the areas, said a directive signed by its director Nurul Amin Khan today.

The decision was made in line with a recommendation of parliamentary standing committee on Primary and Mass Education Ministry of July 24, said the directive.

Usually primary schools have to be established in an area which is around two kilometers off any other primary school, said the DPE sources.

There are 66,000 government primary schools in the country.
