10-yr-old boy killing: Prime accused confesses involvement
The prime accused in the 10-year-old boy murder case in Barguna gave confessional statement before a court today.
Miraj, 25, confessed of killing the boy by beating him with a stick of date tree. The case will be sent to the speedy tribunal as it is a sensitive case, said Bijoy Bashak, superintendent of police in Barguna.
Boijonto Biswas, chief judicial magistrate of Amtali upazila court, recorded Miraj’s statement under section 164 around 11:00am this morning after police produced the accused before the court.
Earlier, Miraj gave the same statement to police under section 161 during interrogation at the Taltali Police Station last night, said Babul Akther, officer-in-charge of the station.
After recording the confessional statement the court ordered to send Miraj to jail, the police official added.
Police said Miraj hit Robiul’s head with torchlight and beat him with a stick of a palm tree, leaving the boy dead.
Meanwhile, over 100 villagers brought out a procession at Choto Amkhola bazaar in Taltali upazila demanding exemplary punishment to the killer.
Robiul was the only son of his father and second among the three children. He was a class-IV student of Farazibai Dakhil madrasa, family sources said.
Dulal Mridha, father of Robiul, is a shopkeeper of small machineries at Taltali bazaar and with the income of the shop he used to run his family of five.
Bijoy Basak, superintendent of district police, said the victim’s body was recovered from a local canal.
Locals and family claimed that Rabiul was beaten to death by Miraj over allegations of “stealing fish”.
Miraj was arrested as the victim’s father filed a case in this connection.
