Protest continues against power plant in Ctg
National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power, and Ports today held a human chain at Banshkhali upazila of Chittagong protesting the killing of the four people who were shot while protesting the installation of a coal-based power plant there.
“We call upon the government to remove the plan to set up the power plant here,” said Prof Anu Muhammad, member secretary of the committee, who also demanded compensation to families who have lost their loved ones.
He claimed that the government did not form a proper team to conduct research for constructing the power plant in that location.
“Even, the government did not take any expert’s opinion before deciding to build such a power plant here,” he said.

Prof Anu also said that a neutral investigation team of experts should be formed to conduct the study once again keeping the environmental hazards in mind.
