Rain erodes soil, disrupts Dhaka’s rail link with Sylhet, Ctg
Train services of Dhaka with Sylhet and Chittagong remain suspended since this morning as a heavy rain eroded earth underneath the rail track in Moulvibazar.
The rain that started in the district last morning washed away soil under the track at Bhanugachh in Kamalganj upazila anytime in the morning, local railway stationmaster Rustom Ali told The Daily Star.
Sensing danger, the railway authorities halted the train service on the routes, our Moulvibazar correspondent reports quoting the stationmaster.
Railway employees were trying to fix the problem till 10:30am when the report was filed.
A number of train including intercity trains – Kalni and Joyantika – and a demu train from Sylhet and Udoyon from Dhaka got stuck at different spots on the route following the disruption.
