Rakib murder: Two accused on 5-day remand
A Khulna court today placed Sharif and Mintu, the two prime accused in Rakib killing case, on a five-day remand.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Faruk Iqbal passed the order after Kazi Mostaque Ahmed, a sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station produced them before the court seeking a 10-day remand.
The duo was injured in a mob beating following the death of Rakib and was undergoing treatment at a local hospital in police custody.
Earlier on August 3, 13-year-old Rakib, who used to work at a motorcycle garage at Tutpara Central Road in Khulna city, was tortured to death allegedly by his former employers over quitting job.
Locals caught the two torturers – Sharif, owner of ‘Sharif Motorcycle Garage’ and his brother Mintu and beat them and handed them over to local police later.
Alam Haldar, victim’s father, filed the case with Sadar Police Station against three people -- Sharif and Mintu, and their mother Beauty Akhter – on last Tuesday.
Police also arrested Beauty as she was present during the incident on the spot.
On August 6, the court also placed Beauty Begum on a three-day remand.
