'Rise High Bangladesh' at Khulna University

The bubbling export idea generating contest 'Rise High Bangladesh' organised its campus activation programme at Khulna University campus on August 31. Far from the crowd of Dhaka, the activation programme experienced huge participation from the Khulna University campus.

The activation program started at 8 am near the University cafeteria and continued until the end of the working day. The venue was decorated with posters, banners and placard which contained details on the contest. A large number of students approached the booths set up at the campus premise before and after their class. Volunteers of Rise High were available and eager to explain the objectives, incentives and rules of participation to the students. Many students showed their interest in the contest. The most participated part of the program was the puzzle-solving game. In the contest, participants were required to pick a clue card, containing export information of an unnamed country. All they had to do was to recognize the country.

Naila Hoque a student of Geography Department, after winning the puzzle solving contest, said, ‘This game is comparatively easy for the students of Geography. I was able to recognize the country. It was Equador. I also learnt about their import preferences from the clue card."

Ariful Islam Khan, a student of Architecture Department showed his eagerness to participate in the export idea contest. He said, ‘Generally these contests are meant for students from business background. But this is different. It is open for students from any discipline. I want to join this contest with my unique export idea.’

The programme also generated interest among the university staffs. Vice-chancellor of Khulna University, Professor Mohammad Fayek Uzzaman, appreciated the initiative. He said, "Bangladesh has many unique products to export such as jute products, clay products and art works. These products will find good response in foreign markets. We need to motivate our students to think about these opportunities. This type of contest will certainly help them in this regard."
