Road crashes kill 4 in Gazipur
At least four people were killed and 10 others injured in separate road accidents on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Sreepur upazila and Gazipur city today.
Two unidentified men died on the spot and 10 others suffered injuries as a Mymensingh-bound bus of Ena Paribahan hit a covered van from behind in Rajendrapur around 11:00am.
The two deceased were the helper and supervisor of the bus, while the injured were passengers of the same vehicle, said Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
Bodies of the two -- one aged around 40 and another around 22 -- were taken to Shaheed Tazuddin Ahmad Medical College and Hospital in Gazipur for autopsy, our Gazipur correspondent reports, quoting the OC.
Meanwhile, an unidentified man, age around 30, died on the spot as a Dhaka-bound bus hit him on the same highway at Gilaberaid in Sreepur upazila around 7:45am, said Md Ayub Hossain, sub-inspector of Mawna Highway Police Station.
The accident took place when the man was crossing the road, added the police official.
In addition, a Mymensingh-bound bus ran a man over while he was crossing the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Jainabazar area of Gazipur this morning, Manjurul Haque, said officer-in-charge of Mawna Highway Police Station, quoting locals.
The victim, aged around 70, was a beggar, added the police official.
