Serial killer Rasu Khan to walk gallows
Serial killer Rasu Khan was awarded death penalty in a case filed for killing a woman garment worker after rape in Chandpur seven years back.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Arunav Chakravarty also sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment under another section in the same case.
The court fined him Tk 10,000, in default, to serve one year more in jail, Additional Public Prosecutor Saidul Islam told our Chandpur correspondent.
Rasu killed Shahida, a garment worker, after rape at Bagati in Chandpur Sadar upazila on December 17 in 2008.
After his arrest on October 7 in 2009, Rasu gave confessional statement to the then senior judicial magistrate and admitted that he murdered a total of 11 female garment workers till then.
Rasu is accused in 10 cases including the Shahida murder case. Nine other cases were filed in Chandpur and Chittagong under women and children repression prevention act.
He was acquitted of one of the nine cases filed for women repression while eight cases remain pending with different courts in the two districts.
