Eid today
The holy Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in the country on Saturday as the Shawwal moon was sighted in Bangladesh sky on Friday.
The National Moon Sighting Committee took the decision at a meeting at the Islamic Foundation’s Baitul Mukarram office this evening after reviewing information of the sighting of the Shawwal moon.
At a post-meeting briefing, Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman told reporters that Eid-ul-Fitre will be celebrated across the country on Saturday as the Shawwal moon was sighted at least in Joypurhat in the evening.
Religious Affairs Secretary Chowdhury Md Babul Hasan Islamic Foundation director general Shamim Mohammad Afzal were also present at the meeting.
