Shibir man held with firearms in Ctg

Police arrested an activist of Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islam, with a pistol and 25 sharp weapons in Satkania upazila of Chittagong early today.

Arrestee Sarwar Uddin alias Saru is accused in 10 cases filed against him on various charges including subversive activities, said Fariduddin Khandakar, officer-in-charge of Satkania Police Station.

Saru was nabbed from his residence at Samadarpara in the upazila during the early hours today, our Chittagong correspondent reports quoting the OC.

The law enforcers recovered a pistol, two bullets, around 25 kirich (a type of knife) and a number of yaba tablets from his house, the police official said.
