Speaker’s ruling sought to stop money laundering

Terming money launderers Razakars of modern day, a lawmaker sought the Speaker’s ruling at the parliament today to stop money laundering from banks.

“Honourable Speaker, somehow we have to stop it,” Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) lawmaker Moinuddin Khan Badal said on a point of order.

“A trend has begun in the country – a certain section of people takes loan from showing high market value of their wealth. After that they continue dillydallying for several years and do not repay the loan. At one point, the banks concerned declared those loans right off.”

“They are animals. They are the Mojaheeds of this generation,” Badal told the parliament. “Are they above the law? As a lawmaker, I will say this is regrettable.”

Mentioning the incident of swindling 3,000 crore taka from Basic bank, the lawmaker said, “We go through such news frequently. And it is very astonishing that we [government] follow a weird method in this regard – we [government] do nothing!”

“As a result, people forget such incidents, and after some day such incidents come into surface again! Honourable Speaker, I want to ask the veteran finance minister through you that do we have no solution to this problem?”
