Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid today assured that the printing of textbooks would be completed on schedule and school students would get them by the start of next year, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

“I can say confidently that the textbooks printing and distribution will be possible in schedule,” the minister said after inspecting the textbook printing at Matuail of Dhaka.

The government has been distributing the free textbooks to the students on time since couple of the years. This year, a total of 333961,724 textbooks are being printed for 44 lakh secondary and primary schools students.

The minister said 70 percent of textbooks for secondary and Madrasa schools have been sent to the upazila-level schools. On the other hand, only one percent books have been sent for the primary students.

Talking about the primary school textbooks, Nahid said due to some complications, the printing of the books was started a bit late. Most of the books would be sent by the month, he added.
