‘Terrorist’ shot dead in front of Jessore jail
Miscreants shot dead an accused of several criminal cases today when he was coming out of Jessore jail on bail this evening.
The deceased Hemayet Uddin, 38, was a ring leader of a local terrorist group and accused of at least 13 criminal cases, Ilias Hossain, officer-in-charge of Jessore Kotwali Police Station, told The Daily Star.
Hemayet came under the attack in front of the jail gate around 8:00pm, our Benapol correspondent reports quoting Nahian, an assistant sub-inspector of the police station.
Miscreants, riding a motor bike, shot at least three bullets at Hemayet and managed to flee the spot leaving him critically injured, the OC said.
Hemayet was rushed to Jessore General Hospital where attending doctor declared him dead.
