Niloy, the alleged mastermind of Hotel Olio blast, also remanded

Two “Neo JMB” members including Hadisur Rahman Sagar, who allegedly supplied bombs during the Holey Artisan attack, were placed on remand hours after they were arrested from Bogra.

Metropolitan Magistrate Raihanul Haque granted a seven-day remand of Sagar while Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Haque granted a six-day remand of another arrestee, Akram Hosen Niloy, who is the alleged mastermind of Hotel Olio International blast in Dhaka’s Panthapath.

Law enforcers produced the duo before the courts today with a 10-day remand prayer.

According to the sources at Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Sagar, hailing from Joypur, allegedly supplied arms and grenades during the Holey Artisan Bakery attack in Dhaka’s Gulshan that left 20 dead including 17 foreigners in 2016.

Niloy, hailing from Kishorganj, is the alleged mastermind of the Hotel Olio International blast in Dhaka’s Panthapath on August 15 last year, sources at the CTTC said.

Earlier in the day, a team of Bogra police arrested Sagar, 36, and Niloy, 26, from Shibganj upazila of the district.

Later, the two were handed over to CTTC unit, Mohibul Islam Khan, deputy commissioner of the unit, told The Daily Star.

Tamim Chowdhury, a suspected mastermind of the Gulshan café attack who was killed during a raid in Narayanganj, brought Hadisur to Neo JMB. Before joining the Neo JMB in 2015, he was a member of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).
