War crimes: Charges on 2 Shariatpur suspects accepted
A special tribunal today accepted the charges against two war crimes suspects of Shariatpur for their alleged involvement in war crimes during the country’s Liberation War.
The three-member International Crimes Tribunal-1 accepted the charges against Sulaiman Mollah and Edris Ali Sarder and fixed February 8 for passing next order.
Prosecution on November 16 pressed four charges against the duo as evidence of committing crimes in 1971 War of Independence were found against them.
On October 29, the investigation agency of the tribunal submitted the probe report with evidence against them for wartime offences.
Sulaiman was arrested on June 14 while Edris still remains absconding.
Of them, Sulaiman was organiser of two anti-liberation organisations -- Shariatpur Peace Committee and Razakar Bahini -- in 1971.
