Ward councilor stabbed dead in Mymensingh
A ward councilor of Mymensingh's Phulpur municipality was stabbed to death by unidentified criminals this evening.
Sadequr Rahman, 40, son of Fazlur Rahman, was also joint secretary of Phulpur municipality committee unit of Jubo League, our local correspondent reports quoting Badshah Alamgir, a commissioner of ward no 1 of the municipality.
Sadequr came under the attack a few hours after an altercation took place between him and Hasibul Hasan Milon, secretary of Chhatra League's Phulpur municipality committee unit around noon over establishing supremacy in the area, according to the police sources.
When Sadequr was returning home at Charpara Gudaria area by a rickshaw, a group of some 20 men attacked Sadequr and stabbed him indiscriminately around 7:00pm, said AKM Mahbub Alam, officer-in-charge of Phulpur Police Station.
Critically injured Sadequr was whisked off to Phulpur Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.
The attackers are yet to be identified, said the OC.
