Eleven women including students are working hard to support development effirts in their villages in all respects. They belong to Neamotpur union under Kaliganj upazila. They get together twice a month for taking decisions on what they could do to improve their area. They are trying to build up their villages as models in the country by forming village development committees. On top of household work, they inspire men and women to get united irrespective of party and politics. They bring together people from fish cultivation, vermicompost, poison free vegetables, etc.

By communicating with the government offices and informing villagers about the program, they have become well known. They discuss with the UP chairman and public representatives about the development activities of the villages. They help to strengthen the local government, earning them the sobriquet of 'animators'. Their mission is to alleviate poverty from the village, all to be educated, have access to health services and make sure that no one remains unfed. This is how they plan to build their villages as the best ones in the country.

These 11 'animators' are  Joly Khatun of Balakando village, Shikha Khatun of Aruashalua village, Shahnaj Khatun of Mollikpur village, Anjana Rani of Anupompur village, Razia Khatun of Mostabapur village, Jharna Khatun of Moheshwarchanda village, Nazma Begum of Dapna village, Morium Begum of Balarampur village, Madhubi Rani of Bholpara village, Morzina Khatun of Harigobindapur village and Bilkis Khatun of Neamotpur village. They all belong to Neamotpur union under Kaliganj upazila of the district. Joly Khatun is a student of Chaprail college HSC 2nd year and Shikha Khatun is a student of third year of Amjad Ali and Faizur Rahman Women's College.

Animator Joly Khatun said that they started this initiative in 2012. At first she did not get any help from her village people. She formed a village development committee, and arranged stipend for the poor students of the village. She collected blankets from benevolent people and provided it to the underprivileged people of the village. She encourages house wives of her village to save rice and money every week. She added that a Japan based NGO 'Hunger Free World' has inspired them to take up these activities through a training program.

Madhubi Rani said, she is given one thousand taka as honourium from the village development fund. After finishing all her household chores she visits different offices to collect information. Now she has built a relationship with the government and non govt. officers of the upazila, and can leverage her network to support development acitivities.

Neamotpur UP Chairman Sazedul Haque Liton said, "This is a noble initiative for the villagers. I will support them if needed. I admire them for taking this step." UNO Manoar Hossain Mollah of Kaliganj upazila said that he has heard about this initiative and wishes to meet the eleven women and support them in their quest.
