Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today filed another case accusing 17 people including three inspectors of Bangladesh Police, a senior election official, and 13 Rohingyas on charge of providing Bangladeshi passports and NIDs to Rohingya refugees using fake documents.

Sharif Uddin, deputy assistant director (DAD) of ACC's Chattogram Integrated office-2 filed the cases with Chattogram Integrated office-2, said the ACC sources.

With this case, the ACC has so far filed six cases in this week accusing EC staff members, ex-ward councilor, and former UP-chairman and Rohingyas.

The accused are Mozammel Hossain, additional regional election officer of Cumilla, Inspector SM Mizanur Rahman (52) of Patuakhali District Police Control Room Office, Md Ruhul Amin (49), inspector (Investigation) of Begumganj Police Station of Noakhali, Inspector Pravash Chandra Dhar (47) of Rangpur DIG Range Office, Rohingyas — Md Tayeb, Md Wases, Md Yahia, Md Rahim, Md Abdur Rahma, Md Abdus Sakur, Nur Habiba, Amatur Rahim, Asmaul Husna, Nur Hamida, Amatur Rahman, Md Osama, and Hafez Nurul Alam.

According to the case statement, the then Special Branch (SB) Inspector Mizan of Cox's Bazar police had submitted positive reports against six passports verification applied by Rohingya refugees Amatur, Osama, Husna, Nurul Alam, Sakur and Abdur Rahman.

Inspector Pravash forwarded the reports to the SP without verifying the reports and the SP approved them. Later the Rohingyas got Bangladeshi passport using that, said the case statement.

During the ACC's investigation, it was found that the Rohingyas came to Bangladesh 34 to 40 years ago from Myanmar, and following the information, ACC submitted a report to cancel the passports issued earlier, the case documents said.

Inspector Ruhul Amin also helped Tayeb and Amatur Rahim get Bangladeshi passport without verifying the documents.

DAD Sharif said "In the meantime, a complaint against the Rohingya had been submitted to the EC office by a Bangladeshi citizen in 2018 where EC asked the then Cox's Bazar election officer Mozammel to inquiry the incident."

"However, Mozammel had submitted his probe report in favour of the Rohingya," said the DAD.

ACC filed the case as the accused in collaboration with each other helped the Rohingya people get Bangladeshi passports and NID.

However, DAD Sharif Uddin has been transferred to Chattogram to Patuakhali district yesterday, hours after he filed a case accusing a Director of EC headquarters over Rohingya NID scam. The ACC authority has said the transfer is routine work nothing else.
