Rab arrests 8 young ‘gang members’ from Dhaka’s Pallabi

Rab arrested eight members of a gang, including its leader, during a raid in Dhaka's Pallabi area last night.

On information, a team of Rab-2 raided several areas in Pallabi and arrested them. Rab members recovered eight sharp weapons from their possession, said Fazlul Haque, operations officer of Rab-2.

The arrestees are: Delwar Hossain alias Poltu, 35, the gang leader; Kawsar Hossain, 18; Niaz Mahmud Zubair, 18; Sujan Sheikh, 19; Asif Hossain, 18; Arif, 18; Mehedi Hasan, 18; and Shahriar Shajib, 18.  

Rab officials said they were members of a local gang called "Romantic Group" and were involved in crimes like mugging, robbery, harassing girls and extortion.

Many of them are drug abusers and often clashed with rival gangs, he said.
