‘Shafiqul Islam: The Secret Art of a Mysterious Artist’ underway at Mrinmoy Art Gallery Chattogram
The exhibition was inaugurated by the artist's wife, Nilufa Akhter. Family members, Faizus Masum, Nawrin Islam and Sanjida Pinky, alongside Sameena M Karim, the Founder of Mrinmoy Art Gallery, Jahed Ali Chowdhury, Professor of Fine Arts Institute, journalist Daisy Moudud, and Sheikh Zahed, Chief of News Channel 24, Chattogram, were also in attendance, among others.
"Shafiqul Islam has left behind numerous masterpieces and this exhibition unravels his unique creations," said Sameena M Karim. "I am blessed to be a part of this tribute."
Alam Khorshed, Founder and Director of Bistaar along with Ahmed Munir, Senior Sub-editor of Prothom Alo also visited the exhibition after the inaugural ceremony as keen spectators.
After the Liberation War, Shafiqul Islam, Professor of Fine Arts and Craft, University of Chattogram (CU), was the first solo art exhibitioner of Bangladesh. "My father was always immersed in his artworks, his entire life," mentioned his son Faizus Masum. "All his love and focus are devoted into his arts."
Sponsored by Berger Paints and BSRM, 57 of the artist's selected artworks are currently on display. The exhibition is open for all till August 10, and also available online for art lovers on Mrinmoy gallery's official Facebook page.
