Three-day harmony festival kicks off
A three-day Harmony Festival began yesterday at the Kakiachhara Tea Garden grounds in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar, celebrating the vibrant culture of the indigenous communities of the plains.
The festival, which will run until Sunday, aims to introduce visitors to the lifestyles, agriculture, and rich traditions of Bangladesh's indigenous peoples, with a focus on showcasing their unique foods and crops.
Organised by the Bangladesh Tourism Board in collaboration with the local upazila administration, the festival brings together representatives from 26 indigenous communities across the country.
The festival also features live demonstrations of traditional crafts, including betel and bamboo items made by the Khasi community, traditional waist looms from the Tripura people, handlooms from the Manipuri people, and processes related to tea and rubber production.
