Following the Friday’s terrorist attack, different foreign diplomatic missions and UN organisations have advised their diplomats, officials and nations living in Dhaka not go to public locations frequently.

The UN Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) today issued a circular for its foreign staffs not to visit hotels, restaurants and supermarkets especially at night.

The UN also temporarily suspended field movement of UN officials (foreign nationals) outside Dhaka. It also advised to avoid holding seminars, workshops, etc outside their office premises.

The UN also asked the locally hired staffs to exercise caution and maintain low profile movement.

The Australian government has advised its citizen to maintain a “high degree of caution” in Bangladesh.

The US Embassy recommends that all US citizens to avoid the area around the restaurant (Road 79 in Gulshan-2) and remain vigilant in their movements and activities, inside the diplomatic enclave and anywhere else in Bangladesh.

It reminded US citizens that US government personnel are not permitted to visit many public places and not to attend large gatherings in Bangladesh, including events at international hotels.

The British government advised its citizens to remain vigilant and follow the advice of the local security authorities.

“Until further notice we specifically advise against visiting areas where foreign nationals are known to congregate such as public areas of International Hotels, large supermarkets, restaurants and clubs.”

Most other western and some Asian embassies also issued similar travel advises for their citizens living in Bangladesh.
