Geetikobi Shongho Bangladesh yesterday announced its freshly formed executive committee for the 2024-26 term by appointing Asif Iqbal as president and Joy Shahriar as general secretary. 

The 15-member panel was officially unveiled by the chief election commissioner for the committee election, Naquib Khan, during a ceremony at Dhaka's Bishwo Shahitto Kendro. The other two election commissioners were Foad Nasser Babu and Fahmida Nabi.

The other members of the committee include Vice President Bappy Khan  (K M Mustafizur Rahman), Joint General Secretary Bakiul Alam, Organisational Secretary Sirajum Munir, Finance Secretary Enamul Kabir, Publicity and Publication Secretary Rezaur Rahman Rizvi, Cultural Secretary Saki Ahmed, Office Secretary Apon Ahsan, Information and Technology Secretary Tushar Hasan, and Executive Members Ashraf Babu, Ashfaqul Bari, Adhora Jahan, Rabiul Awal, and Talha Bin Parvez.

Prior to the announcement of the final election results, the book "Shonghojoner Geetikobita" (Anthology of Lyricists' Poetry), a collaborative publication by Adorn Publications and the Geetikobi Shongho Bangladesh, was officially unveiled.

This anthology highlights the artistry of 129 lyricists, offering a glimpse into their lives with concise biographies, photographs, a curated list of their top 10 songs, and the full lyrics of one iconic composition from each artiste. 

The unveiling ceremony was graced by Naquib Khan, Foad Nasser Babu, Shahid Mahmud Jangi, Shahidullah Faraizee, Liton Adhikary Rintu, Milan Khan, Golam Morshed, Nasir Ahmed, Salauddin Sajal, Asif Iqbal, Milton Khandaker, and Syed Zakir Hossain, the chief editor, CEO, and publisher of Adorn Publications, along with several other esteemed lyricists.

Following the announcement of the final results, the outgoing president, Shahid Mahmud Jangi, officiated the oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected members of the executive committee. After the oath, responsibilities were formally transferred to the new leadership. 

The evening concluded with a vibrant cultural program, showcasing musical performances by Tarun Munshi, Autumnal Moon, Ashfaqul Bari Ruman, Joy Shahriar, Nahid Hasan, and Prince Rubel.

Founded on July 24, 2020, Geetikobi Shongho Bangladesh was established to safeguard the legacy of Bangla lyrics, elevate their artistic standards, and advocate for the rights and interests of lyricists, across the country.
