Acclaimed musician, actor, and podcast creator Jon Kabir has added another accolade to his name, winning the Best Content Creator (Podcast) Award for the fourth season of "I Started a Podcast" at the "Blender's Choice The Daily Star OTT and Digital Content Awards 2023", held tonight.

Jon Kabir, a name synonymous with Bangla rock, first rose to fame as the frontman for Black in the early 2000s. After leaving Black to form Indalo, he embraced a new musical direction. His success extended beyond music to acting, and now, with "I Started a Podcast", he has cemented his place in Bangladesh's burgeoning podcasting scene.

In a landscape where podcasts have evolved from niche audio files in the early 2000s to a mainstream medium of 2024, Jon's show stands out as one of the most engaging programs on YouTube. While local podcasting has struggled to gain traction, often overshadowed by international shows, Jon Kabir's "I Started a Podcast" has managed to break through, making it to its fifth season.

Though Jon's popularity as a musician and actor has surely contributed to the podcast's success, it is not merely his fame that has kept the show thriving. Jon, who describes himself as an introvert and a lifelong loner, created the podcast out of his personal need for genuine conversation and storytelling. He explains:

Debuting in 2020, "I Started a Podcast" initially focused on conversations about music, but with professionals outside the music industry. Now in 2024, the podcast continues to feature a wide range of guests, from musicians to actors and beyond, including Asif Akbar, Powersurge, Cryptic Fate, Ashiquzzaman Tulu, Pritom Hasan, Ershad Zaman, Jamshed Chowdhury, Saimum Hasan Nahian, Ashfaque Nipun, Ridy Sheikh, Bappa Mazumder, Rafiath Rashid Mithila, Afsana Mimi, Azmeri Haque Badhon, Avik Anwar, and Kishwar Chowdhury.

Jon also touched on the subtle psychology of hosting a podcast, particularly the power dynamic that comes into play when the host assumes the role of interviewer. The dynamic changes the conversation from a mutual exchange to something more structured, a challenge Jon has embraced while keeping his style conversational.

A celebration of excellence in the OTT and digital entertainment sector, the awards aim to honour remarkable achievements in this rapidly growing industry.
