WrestleMania 41: Jey Uso clinches World Heavyweight Championship

Jey Uso has finally conquered his greatest challenge. The beloved "Yeet" icon etched his name into history by becoming just the third WWE Superstar to defeat Gunther, earning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship with a submission victory in the opening match of WrestleMania 41, Night 1, held yesterday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Emerging as the unexpected winner of the 2025 Royal Rumble, Uso had previously lost all four of his past encounters with "The Ring General," who has reigned as a powerhouse since his 2022 main roster debut.
The match began cautiously, but Gunther soon asserted dominance, unleashing a flurry of his signature chops and even striking Uso with his championship belt. Despite the onslaught, Uso rebounded after Gunther's failed chokehold, grinning defiantly as the two exchanged brutal strikes, including elbows, face kicks, and thunderous lariats.
Uso turned the tide with a countered powerbomb, followed by a devastating superkick and a spear that floored the champion. He then delivered three Uso Splashes before locking in a rear-naked choke, forcing Gunther to tap out and igniting a raucous celebration under the celebratory lights of Las Vegas.
After the match, Jey celebrated an emotional triumph alongside his twin brother, Jimmy Uso — his longtime tag team partner and fellow half of the iconic duo, The Usos.
