On Wednesday, Alliance Française de Dhaka held the opening ceremony for their latest group art exhibition. Titled "From Suffering to Liberation: Buddha of Bengal", the event was inaugurated at La Galerie around 5:00 pm, on May 3.

Organised by Oriental Painting Study Group and curated by Mikhail I Islam from Learning Design Studio, the event was inaugurated by Buddhist Vante Sanghananda Mohathero, High Priest of Sylhet Bouddho Bihara, who was also the Chief Guest.

MS Nilu Rowshon Murshed, Chairperson, Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts, François Grosjean, Director, Alliance Française de Dhaka and Dr. Saymon Zakaria, Bangladeshi folk researcher and Deputy Director of the Development of Culture, Bangla Academy, also attended the ceremony as Special Guests.

Bringing together 50 artists from Bangladesh and India, the exhibit explores traditional expressions of Buddhist Sacred Art within the region. The exhibition seeks to capture the profound power and salvific nature of Buddhist art.

The exhibition will run till Monday, May 15, with the gallery remaining closed on Sundays.
