Aranyak to celebrate its 50th founding anniversary

Famed theatre troupe Aranyak Natyadal is gearing up to celebrate its 50th founding anniversary with a plethora of cultural programmes and theatre plays. 

Noted actor Mamunur Rashid, a member of the event organising committee, confirmed the news at the press conference for the event, held yesterday at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy's Seminar Hall.

Alongside the chief editor for Aranyak,Mamunur Rashid, the director and designer of the troupe, Faiz Zahir, actress Momena Chowdhury, and actress Tamalika Karmaker along with many others were present at the press conference.

The 50th founding anniversary of Aranyak will be held this 27 January. The eight-day-long event will continue till February 3, featuring different cultural programmes including seminars, instrumental music, publication festivals, and much more.

The main highlight of the anniversary celebration will be nine theatre dramas staged by Aranyak during these eight days. The theatre plays include, "Iblis", "Nankar Pala", "Ora Kadam Ali", "Sangkranti", "Raraang", "Moyur Singhashon", "Rajnetra" "Kobor" and "Kohe Facebook".

Aranyak Natyadal was established on February 1, 1972. They began their journey by staging "Kobor '' on February 20, of that same year. The theatre troupe has been in practice ever since. Be it staged theatre, open theatre, or street theatre, the troupe has dabbled in all, enriching the Bengali culture. They truly believe that theatre is not just entertainment, but a sharp weapon against class conflict.
