The Bangladesh Embassy in Amman hosted the reception at the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Hyatt Amman on March 20. Dr Nancy Namrouqa, state minister for legal affairs of Jordan, was present as the chief guest of the event. Ambassador H.E Ms.Nahida Sobhan organised the coveted event.

Foreign ambassadors, diplomats, high officials from the foreign and expatriates ministry, and other ministries along with officers of the armed forces, journalists, academia and civil society attended the reception.

Speaking as the chief guest to mark the Independence Day of Bangladesh, Dr Nancy Namrouqa said, Jordan expresses pride in the long-standing friendly relations with Bangladesh, which dates back over 50 years since the recognition of Bangladesh's independence. Jordan highlights the growing cooperation with our country in various fields, including trade, tourism, manpower, and education, and the presence of over 65,000 Bangladeshi citizens in Jordan. Jordan also acknowledges Bangladesh's support of Arab issues, particularly its support for the rights of the Palestinian people. The message ends with congratulating Bangladesh and hoping for continued security and stability.

The Srishti Cultural Center mesmerised the audience with their performance. The dignitaries and the foreign guests witnessed Bangladesh's rich cultural heritage and way of life.

The reception was followed by a dinner where guests enjoyed traditional Bangladeshi food, specially prepared to promote the culinary tradition of Bangladesh in the Arab world.
