Mehedi Haque receives scholarship from California College of the Arts
Mehedi Haque, founder of Dhaka Comics and Executive Editor at UNMAD, recently applied for the post-graduate programme on 'Comics' at the California College of the Arts. His extensive portfolio, of more than 22 years, left the university surprised, as they were shocked to see someone 'overqualified' apply for a degree.
The university then invited Mehedi for an online interview. They were so impressed by the artist and his portfolio, that not only did they accept his application, but they also offered him a merit-based scholarship for his accomplishments.
After graduating from Jahangirnagar University's Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Mehedi opted to draw cartoons as a profession, rather than going for a traditional job. Now, he has chosen to once again become a student, as the subject being offered is on 'Comics'.
