Nadia Samdani presented the Order of Arts and Letters by French cultural ministry
Nadia Samdani MBE, the Co-founder of the Samdani Art Foundation and Dhaka Art Summit has been awarded with the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters) by the French Ministry of Culture.
She was honoured with the Chevalier (Knight) rank through the order yesterday, March 15, at the Residence of the French Ambassador in Gulshan. The Order of Arts and Letters is presented to distinguished individuals for their creativity in the cultural spheres, or by their support for the distribution of knowledge and work that form the wealth of cultural heritage.
The award was handed over to Nadia Samdani by the French Ambassador, Her Excellency (H.E.) Marie Masdupuy, on behalf of the French Government.
Previously, Nadia Samdani was bestowed with the Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) title by Queen Elizabeth II in 2022, in recognition of her contribution to the art and culture of Bangladesh, South Asia and UK.
She was presented with the title at Buckingham Palace on February 2, where she received her title from Prince William. Along with her husband Rajeeb Samdani, she was the first South Asian arts patron to receive the prestigious Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award in 2017.
The Samdanis are best known for Dhaka Art Summit, which brings together curators, artists, and other arts professionals from around the globe. Their works have resulted them being included in major international public institutions and collections.
