It seems the controversy around Prabhash starrer "Adipurush" has escalated severely, as the co-writer and lyricist of the film is receiving death threats for his statements about the film.

"Adipurush" co-writer and lyricist Manoj Muntashir recently defended the dialogues he has written for Devdatta Nage's character of Bajrang (Hanuman) in the film.

During an interview, Manoj referred to Hanuman as a devotee rather than a god.

"He does not speak in the manner of Shri Ram. Lord Hanuman does not speak philosophically. Lord Hanuman is a devotee, not God. We made him God since his devotion was so strong" said Manoj.

A number of viewers criticised the simple language voiced by the characters, particularly that of Hanuman. Manoj then tweeted that numerous lines in Adipurush would be altered and added to the film this week.

Manoj was recently given security by the Mumbai Police after he reported a threat to his life. According to the news agency PTI, police have increased patrols near his Mumbai office, and enough security has been provided at his apartment. "We have received an application from Manoj Shukla and we are providing him security following a threat to his life," the official said, as quoted by PTI, adding that police are looking into the threat angle.

"Adipurush," directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series, has also received criticism for its terrible VFX on social media. On Friday, the film was released in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil across the country. Prabhas plays Raghav (Ram), Kriti Sanon as Janaki (Sita), and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh (Raavan) in the film.
