After 'Scoop,' Hansal Mehta announces 'Scam 2003: The Telgi Story'
After the success of "Scoop", Hansal Mehta has announced that he will be releasing "Scam 2003: The Telgi Story" within a few months. It will be a follow-up to his hit 2020 project "Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story."
The story of counterfeiter Abdul Karim Telgi, who made fake stamp paper, will be told in the series. The scheme, which spanned numerous states, stunned the entire country.
The web-series is based on the Hindi book "Reporter ki Diary," written by Sanjay Singh, the journalist who broke the news.
Hansal Mehta posted the video to Instagram with the caption, "Special announcement on the 3rd anniversary of Sony Live India."
"The series promises to be an intriguing watch as it chronicles the life of Abdul Karim Telgi, who was born in Khanapur, Karnataka, and his journey to becoming the mastermind behind one of India's most ingenious scams that spanned 18 states and shook the entire country.The scam's value is believed to be over Rs 20,000 crores, " the makers stated in their press release.
Starring Pratik Gandhi in the lead role, "Scam 1992" narrates the story of stockbroker Harshad Mehta who orchestrated a Rs 5,000 crore securities scandal, which led to the exposure of many loopholes in the functioning of the stock market and banks.
