Prominent actress Yami Gautam made her debut in Bollywood with "Vicky Donor" (2012), starring opposite Ayushmann Khurrana. Since then, the actress has come a long way, carving a place for herself on the silver screen.

However, speaking to Asian News International (ANI), Yami looked back on her journey and opened up about her experience in the industry. "My journey is still ongoing...I have faced a lot of ups and downs but it's all worth it in the end," shared the actress.

"However, right after my first film, in fact right after the success of the film (Vicky Donor) I felt lost...I did not know which way to take," added Yami.

Though the audience enjoyed her acting and loved her character, Ashima Roy, in "Vicky Donor", the actress felt lost regarding how she could move forward in her career.

Soon afterwards, though, she took on a number of excellent films including, "Badlapur" (2015), "Kaabil" (2017), "Batti Gul Meter Chalu" (2018), "Bala" (2019), "Uri: The Surgical Strike" (2019), and "Dasvi" (2022), among many others.

Speaking about the dilemma she experienced right after the success of "Vicky Donor", Yami said, "I was not able to connect with the opportunities I was receiving at that time. 'Do I stay without work or do I take these opportunities and still try', all these thoughts used to linger in my mind."

"It took me a while to understand my own self and how to channel my voice. I had to rediscover myself to understand what's my purpose of coming all the way here and leaving my hometown," added the actress.

Since then, the actress has continued to star in hit films, garnering much praise from the audience. Yami is currently set to appear on the film "Lost", which is inspired by real-events, directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury.
