Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon to reunite after 20 years
Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon have made a recent appearance at a Mumbai-based Indian award show. Notably, they were seated side by side, and Raveena had the honour of presenting an award to Akshay. This delightful reunion has sparked fervent speculations about a possible collaboration on the silver screen.
Akshay and Raveena have worked together in multiple films, including cults like "Mohra". Their last collaboration was "Police Force: An Inside Story" in 2004. It has taken almost 20 years and a comic caper like "Welcome 3" to bring the two of them together.
While details of their dynamic in the film have been kept under wraps, however, "it is unlike anything they have done before," an Indian media report stated, quoting an unnamed source.
"Welcome 3", officially titled "Welcome to the Jungle", is an adventure comedy with a stellar ensemble cast. It is the third instalment in the "Welcome" franchise. The preparations are currently underway, and the shooting schedule will be chalked out soon. Both Akshay and Raveena are excited about this reunion, the report added.
Akshay and Raveena are a hit pair from the 1990s. They starred together in films like "Mohra" (1994), "Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi" (1996), "Daava" (1997), "Barood" (1998), and "Keemat: They Are Back" (1998). The duo has also mesmerised the audience with their famous songs "Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast" and "Tip Tip Barsa Pani" from "Mohra".
During that time, Akshay and Raveena were in a romantic relationship and even got engaged. However, their love story took a turn when Akshay ended their relationship, subsequently dating Shilpa Shetty and eventually tying the knot with Twinkle Khanna. Raveena, on her part, later married film distributor Anil Thadani.
However, after moving on many years ago, they appear to be comfortable talking about each other publicly. Raveena, in an interview, shared that she still shares a friendship with Akshay, and called him "one of the strongest pillars" of the film industry.
Welcome is a film series of Indian comedy films, produced by Firoz Nadiadwala and directed by Anees Bazmee. The first part of the franchise, "Welcome", released in 2007 and the second part, "Welcome Back", released in 2015.
