Anjana on life support
Veteran actress Anjana Rahman had been receiving care in the CCU of a private hospital in the capital for the past week. As her condition worsened on the first day of the new year, she was moved to PG Hospital in the capital and placed on life support late Wednesday night (January 1).
Anjana's son, Nishat Rahman Moni, has confirmed the news. He has requested prayers for his mother's recovery.
Anjana had been battling a persistent fever for 15 days prior to getting admitted to hospital.
Despite taking medication, her condition did not improve. Doctors later diagnosed her with a blood infection. Following the doctor's advice, she was quickly admitted to the hospital.
Anjana is a prominent actress in Bangladeshi films. She began her career as a dancer before moving into acting, becoming the only local actress to feature in thejoint productions and foreign films at a point in time.
Her acting career started with the 1976 film "Dossu Bonhur". Anjana has appeared in over 300 films to date, and has received the National Film Award twice for her roles in "Parineeta" and "Gangchil".
