'Coco 2’ in the works, Pixar sets 2029 release date

Pixar has confirmed that "Coco 2" is in development, with a theatrical release set for 2029. The announcement was made by Disney CEO Bob Iger during the company's annual shareholder meeting.
The sequel will reunite original director Lee Unkrich and co-director Adrian Molina, with Mark Nielsen ("Toy Story 4", "Inside Out 2") set to produce. Iger commented, "While the film is just in the initial stages, we know it will be full of humour, heart and adventure, and we can't wait to share more soon,"
Released in 2017, "Coco" tells the story of a 12-year-old boy with aspirations of becoming a musician who is unexpectedly transported to the Land of the Dead. There, he sets out to find his great-great-grandfather, a legendary deceased musician, in hopes of gaining his family's blessing to pursue his passion for music.
The film earned two Academy Awards, including Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for "Remember Me," written by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez.
It also received several other major honours, including a Golden Globe for Best Animated Motion Picture, a BAFTA for Best Animated Film, and Critics' Choice Awards for both Best Animated Feature and Best Song.
A Coco-themed ride is also in the works for Disney California Adventure.
