'Hawa' made it to Golden Globes shortlist
Mejbaur Rahman Sumon's "Hawa" made waves across international borders, for its breathtaking cinematography and concept. As the Golden Globe Awards took place today, it has been revealed that our very own Bangladeshi film "Hawa" was shortlisted for the prestigious event.
This information was given by film critic and screenwriter, Sadia Khalid Reeti, who was the only Bangladeshi to vote for the Golden Globe.
She said, "Usually we get to know about the rank of the movies after the nominations are announced. I was really surprised when I got to see 'Hawa' name on the shortlist. It was a matter of pride and joy to see a Bangladeshi movie's name on the list."
Earlier there was a system of voting only from Hollywood. Apart from this, there was no chance of voting from other countries of the world. From this year onwards, 103 people have been selected for voting from all over the world. There were 200 voters this time, and Sadia Khalid Reeti voted for the first time after getting a place on that list.
Mejbaur Rahman Sumon, the director of the movie, is also elated about "Hawa" being on the shortlist.
Recently, "Hawa" was released in multiple states of India, including Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra yesterday, under the banner of Reliance Entertainment.
The movie stars Chanchal Chowdhury, Nazifa Tushi, Sariful Razz, Shohel Mondol, Nasir Uddin Khan and Rizvi Rizu, among many others.
