I am not settling down in the USA: Shakib Khan
Rumours were rife that superstar Shakib Khan will be settling down in the United States of America (USA). However, the actor has denied such claims.
In a conversation with The Daily Star, Shakib Khan opened up about his stay in the USA, and rumours about him moving abroad.
"People who are speculating about my stay in the USA have no idea about the details," mentioned the actor.
Shakib Khan left Bangladesh for the USA on November 12. He attended the Dhallywood Film and Music Awards in New York. Currently, the actor is busy with the pre-production work of his upcoming film.
When asked about the news of him settling down in the USA, the actor refuted it sharply.
"This news is not at all true. I don't understand how people can just assume things. I am only staying here because of my work. People who produce bug-budget movies will understand how it takes months to complete the pre-production work," he added.
"The United States Government has given green cards to celebrities from different countries. Not many celebrities receive this honour. People who receive green cards, accept them with great respect," added the actor.
"Before the Covid-19 pandemic, I had plans of living in the USA. However, that doesn't mean I will be leaving my country. I am not settling down in the USA. I only came here to take my green card. One doesn't have to stay here for years for the green card," said Shakib Khan.
Shakib Khan further added, "Many celebrities from across the world have green cards. They also have houses and businesses in places like Dubai, Canada and Australia. However, they are working regularly from their own countries. A lot of baseless rumours have been spreading about me. I never let those get to me."
