Kamar Ahmad Simon’s ‘Day after…’ selected for IDFA
International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam has selected noted filmmaker Kamar Ahmad Simon's "Anyadin…"(Day after…) for its 2021 international competition.
The festival announced Simon's selection through a live press conference held in Amsterdam at 5 PM Bangladesh time yesterday.
IDFA is the globally renowned international film festival for presenting recent non-fiction films.
The 12-day festival screens more than three hundred powerful and poetic films for more than two and a half lac audiences.
Kamar Ahmad Simon's "Day after..." will have its world premiere in IDFA's International Competition section at the Tuschinski Theater on November 20 at 9 pm prime time screening on Saturday.
The IDFA organisers have already invited Kamar Ahmad Simon and producer Sara Afreen to join the festival on the 19th.
Kamar's "Day after.." will compete alongside the films directed by Ukrainian filmmaker Sergei Loznitsa, Portugal's Susana de Sousa Dias, Russia's Aliona van der Horst.
The winners will be announced at a gala event on November 25 at the famous Eye Film Museum in Amsterdam.
"Day after…" is the 2nd film of Kamar's 'Water Trilogy'. The 1st of it, 'Are You Listening!' (Shunte Ki Pao!) has already been screened as the opening film of A-listed festivals like Locarno Open Doors and Doc-Leipzig.
