Kapil Sharma, Rajpal Yadav among celebs receiving death threats
Comedian Kapil Sharma has reportedly received a death threat via email, originating from Pakistan, according to the police. The comedian now joins the list of celebrities, including Rajpal Yadav, Sugandha Mishra, and Remo D'Souza, who have recently been targeted with similar threats.
An FIR has been filed at Amboli Police Station against an unidentified individual under Section 351(3) of the BNS. Authorities have confirmed that the investigation is currently underway to trace the sender of the email.
Police officials stated that the threatening email was sent from Pakistan and are actively working to identify the culprit.
The email stated, "We are monitoring your recent activities and feel it is crucial to bring a sensitive matter to your attention. This is neither a publicity stunt nor an attempt to harass you. We urge you to handle this message with the utmost seriousness and confidentiality."
The message was signed off by someone using the name 'BISHNU'.
According to the police, the email demanded a response from the celebrities within eight hours, warning of consequences on both personal and professional fronts if ignored.The responsibility for the murder was claimed by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's gang.
Salman Khan, on his part, stepped up his security, even installing bullet-proof windows on his balcony.
Comedian Kapil Sharma has filed an official complaint with the police regarding the matter.
Before Kapil Sharma, Sugandha Mishra and Remo D'Souza had also approached the police after receiving similar threatening emails.
Actor Rajpal Yadav was also targeted, having received the email on December 14 last year. However, he discovered it in his spam folder and filed a complaint with the police on December 17.
In an audio statement to NDTV, Rajpal Yadav said, "I have lodged a complaint with the Amboli Police and the cyber crime department. Beyond that, I haven't discussed the matter further. As an artiste, my focus is on entertaining audiences with my performances. The agencies are better equipped to handle such issues and provide updates."
Mumbai Police are conducting an urgent investigation as a series of complaints from targeted celebrities continue to emerge.
In a related incident last October, politician Baba Siddique was fatally shot near his residence in the Bandra area of Mumbai. The murder was claimed by the gang led by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Following the incident, Salman Khan enhanced his personal security measures, including installing bulletproof windows on his balcony.
Just last week, actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked at his Bandra home during the early hours of Thursday. The intruder stabbed him six times, leaving him with severe injuries. Reports indicate that doctors successfully removed a 2.5-inch knife blade from his wounds during surgery.
