Kolkata Media has always made 'chutney' of my personal life: Swastika Mukherjee
Indian actress Swastika Mukherjee, known for her outspokenness on various issues such as sexual harassment, has now directed her criticism towards the media. In a recent interview, she expressed her frustration, stating, "The Kolkata media has always made chutney of my personal life."
Swastika further highlighted that certain Kolkata-based media outlets have neglected to discuss her films, instead opting to focus on her personal life. She humorously remarked, "They have made either plum chutney or tomato chutney with it, discussing with whom I am seen in hotels and my personal affairs."
The actress shared her disappointment, stating, "Five of my films were released in the past year, with a few of them being successful. However, these media outlets did not write a single word about those movies. Although, it seems now they want to settle scores with me, but my enthusiasm has waned."
Earlier, Swastika had taken a strong stance against sexual harassment in a lengthy Facebook post, firmly asserting, "Sexual harassment is not a trivial incident. There is no forgiveness. Producers may think everything is resolved, but it's not. I will not give up!"
Recent allegations surfaced, suggesting that producer Sandeep Sarkar had sent sexually explicit photos to Swastika.
Following these accusations, Swastika announced on Facebook that she would not attend the trailer release event of the movie "Shibpur," as she had faced a distressing experience after joining the project.
It should be noted that "Shibpur" is scheduled for theatrical release on June 30. The actress's revelations have sparked conversations about the importance of focusing on artistic achievements and combating sexual harassment within the entertainment industry.
