Kolkata’s cinema halls to reopen with Jaya Ahsan’s ‘Bini Sutoy’

Jaya Ahsan is to star in 'Bini Sutoy', made by India's National Award winning director Atanu Ghosh.

The film will debut on August 20, when Kolkata's cinema halls reopen.

Even before release, the film as awarded in various international film festivals around the globe.

"To be honest, films like 'Bini Sutoy' do not come around that often", says Jaya Ahsan to The Daily Star, "It is truly a beautiful film".

The National Award winning actor also said that she shot for the film about two and a half years ago. "It was on display in many film festivals, and got awarded in the Hawaii film festival as well. I would like to thank Atanu Ghosh, his is truly an incredible director with a different vision, having taken a huge risk in making the film."

The film stars Jaya Ahsan as Sraboni, Ritwick Chakraborty as Kajal, Chandrayee Ghosh as Jenny and Samantak Dyuti Maitra as Kaahon.

Besides acting in the film, she has also lent her voice to a song there.

Jaya Also starred in Atanu Ghosh's 'Robibar', for which she won Best Actress in Madrid International Film Festival.

"In a festival which features films by Oscar winners, it is truly humbling to have won an award there. I am delighted," says Jaya Ahsan.
