‘Mastul’ secures Special Mention at Moscow Int'l Film Festival

Bangladeshi film "Mastul" has won the Special Mention Award (Jury) from the Federation of Film Societies in Moscow.
On Thursday (April 24) morning, local time, director Mohammad Nuruzzaman was presented with the certificate by the Federation of Film Societies authorities. The film received the recognition for its "humane perspective on everyday life".

Speaking from Moscow, Mohammad Nuruzzaman said, "The premiere of 'Mastul' in Moscow was met with great appreciation. From general audiences to film critics and journalists, everyone expressed interest in the film."
"This overwhelming response feels like a major achievement to me. Among all this, receiving the Special Mention Award (Jury) at the First Prize Ceremony is undoubtedly a special honour for the film, he added."
Alongside "Mastul", the Indian Khasi-language film "Elysium", directed by Pradip Kurba, won the NETPAC Jury Award at the same ceremony.
Meanwhile, Argentina's "Non-Standard Thinking", directed by Mariano Wajter, received the Russian Film Critics Jury Award.
Kazakhstan's "Evacuation", directed by Farhat Sharipov, earned a Special Mention from the International Federation of Film Clubs.
China's "Aunt Hu and Her Paradise Garden", directed by Pan Jitsi, won the Non-Fiction Film and TV Guild Jury Award, while the Audience Choice Award went to Russia's "Two in One Life, Not Counting Dogs", directed by Andrei Zaitsev.
"Mastul" revolves around the lives of seafarers and features performances by Fazlur Rahman Babu, Deepak Suman, Aminur Rahman, Arif Hasan, and Sifat Bannya, among others.

Tonghar Talkies handled the film's digital distribution and promotion.
The film competed in the main competition section of the 47th Moscow International Film Festival.
The festival concluded on Thursday midnight, Bangladesh time. However, "Mastul" did not win any awards in the main competition category.
