The National Film Awards 2021 was held yesterday by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The event was a star-studded affair, featuring some of the biggest celebrities and artistes from across Bangladesh.
Noted actor-director Mir Sabbir received the National Film Award from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the 'Best Actor in a Lead Role' category for his performance in the government-funded film "Raat Jaga Phool". The film also marked the actor's directorial debut, as he has continued to impress audiences with his multi-talented persona for two decades now.
Mir Sabbir attended the event with his mother, sister, and wife, actress Farzana Chumki. Expressing his joy for receiving such a prestigious award, he said, "This day will always be memorable for me. If my father were alive, then I would also bring him with me. Although my beloved family and fellow colleagues are with me, I am missing my father a lot. The memory of this day will forever be engraved in my heart."
Meanwhile, while receiving the award, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her blessing on Mir Sabbir by touching his head, which happened for the first time in his acting career.
"It's a big thing for me that the honorable Prime Minister likes my work and has blessed me. She told me to make more good films in the future. This was such a beautiful moment for me that I can't explain it in words," said the actor.
Since receiving the National Film Award as the best actor, Mir Sabbir is being showered with love from his close friends, co-artistes, and fans.
"I am grateful and indebted to all the people who have been showering me with their love and blessings."
Recently, Mir Sabbir finished shooting for a drama titled, "Dim". He is also planning on directing a television serial soon
