Mumbai police have reportedly arrested a prime suspect in Saif Ali Khan's attack case. During a press conference, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dixit Gedam stated that the prime accused is likely to be a Bangladeshi citizen as he didn't have any proper documents with him, reports NDTV.

The accused has been identified as Mohammad Sariful Islam Shehzad, according to the senior officer. "The investigation suggests that the suspect may be from Bangladesh. He does not possess any Indian documents. We believe he is from Bangladesh and are conducting further inquiries. Passport Act charges have been added to the case against him," the officer stated, noting that the accused entered the actor's residence with the intent to commit robbery.

The senior officer stated, "We have recovered certain items from him indicating that he is from Bangladesh. He entered India illegally and adopted the name Bijoy Das. He has been residing in Mumbai for approximately four months, working for a housekeeping agency."

Mumbai Police earlier revealed that the accused used several aliases, including Vijay Das and Bijoy Das.

In the early hours of Sunday, the police announced that they had apprehended the main suspect in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case from the Thane West area in Maharashtra.

The intruder gained access to the actor's home through the rear fire exit. The actor's maid saw him and screamed, prompting the intruder to attack. When Mr. Khan confronted the man, he was stabbed six times before the assailant fled the scene. Mr. Khan was immediately taken to Lilavati Hospital, where doctors have reported that he is recovering well.

The attack on the beloved actor has shocked the nation, raising concerns about the state of law and order in Mumbai. Prominent voices, including opposition leaders and members of the film industry, have criticized the Devendra Fadnavis government, questioning how safe ordinary citizens are if even high-profile figures can be attacked in such a manner.
